OOC Info Post: Talk To/About The Hand

handystandOkuyasu Nijimura here is a sixteen year old young man with two arcing scars across his face (giving his head the vague appearance of a baseball), his hair in a black pompadour at the top, but with grey on the sides pulled taught into the back.
Yes, he's rocking salt and pepper already even though he's 16. Jojo's cares not for how humans are actually shaped or aged. Yes, Okuyasu is from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, birthplace of that Roundabout meme. It's a fun anime where manly men wear eyeliner and fight vampires and eventually there are weird superpowers called Stands, which I mainly bring up because that's the real thing to talk about here, because otherwise Okuyasu is a puppy dog of a teen who wears his emotions on his sleeve, will growl if provoked, and attack if prompted. The trick there is that if you really tick him off, he can literally erase your existence.
So, Stands! That's the name of the superpowers in JJBA, so called because they manifest standing next to you. I’m not even joking, that is the actual in universe explanation of the name. They're a powerful manifestation of life force that only other people with a Stand can see... but in Fandom, I'm going to expand that to other folks that are able to see magical/mystical things beyond normal sight. Because...

So, Okuyasu's Stand, ‘The Hand’. If you can see it, it looks like a large robot version of Okuyasu, with a right hand that has two bumps in the palm. When the Hand swipes with that right hand, it erases things from existence, and then stitches the edges of what was wiped away together. For example, if he swiped at a sign that said ‘FASTMART’ and took out the middle, it would become a sign that read ‘FART’.
He can also do this to empty space, causing people and objects to sort of ‘teleport’, so he can bring opponent’s into range of his punches, or bring himself into contact with someone who is running away. It can also prove a liability - in his first fight with Josuke, he erases the space between Josuke and himself, and Josuke had positioned himself so that two flower pots flew along with him and they clock Okuyasu right in the face.
So... how does this not mean he just wins all fights and ruins all dramatic tension? Well, if you can see The Hand, he's not that hard to dodge. Plus, Okuyasu is literally described as not smart enough to use it to its full potential. Don't worry folks, I'm not here to ruin your plots or kill all your baddies in one swipe right.
